Buon compleanno a Peter Gabriel - Sledgehammer, video e testo

Peter Brian Gabriel è nato a Chobham (UK) il 13 febbraio 1950 ed è un grande cantante, compositore, musicista, nonchè  il leader indiscusso dei  primi "Genesis", con i quali ha militato dal 1967 al 1975.
Ho imparato a conoscere la musica di Peter Gabriel nel 1986, quando uscì il singolo "Sledgehammer", contenuto nell' album "So"; si trattava di una canzone commerciale, ma al tempo stesso fuori dagli schemi delle altre canzoni pop, accompagnata da un video clip davvero ingegnoso ed innovativo.
La canzone arrivò al primo posto in America ed anche in Europa, mentre il video arrivò a  vincere numerosi MTV Video Music Awards l' anno successivo.
Nella sua carriera Peter Gabriel ha affrontato vari generi come il rock, il progressive, la new wave, il pop e la world music.
