James Vernon Taylor, è nato a Belmont (USA) il 12 marzo 1948 ed oggi compie 61 anni. Taylor, dopo un inizio molto travagliato a causa della droga, nel 1968 pubblicò il suo primo disco a Londra, presso la casa discografica dei Beatles, la Apple Records, con la partecipazione dei due Fab4 McCartney e Harrison.
Nel 1972 sposò Carly Simon, la quale in seguito scriverà la canzone dedica "You 're so Vain". Gli anni '70 lo videro come uno dei padri della West Coast, riscuotendo grande successo, vincendo varie volte il Grammy Award.
La sua carriera ha subito varie flessioni, sia a causa dei divorzi che della tossicodipendenza, ma si è sempre ripreso con grandi successi.

Oggi John Cale compie 67 anni.
John Davies Cale, è nato a Garnant (UK) il 9 marzo del 1942. Grande compositore e musicista, fondò con "Lou Reed" i "Velvet Underground". Dopo lo scioglimento dei Velvet, Cale ha intrapreso con successo la carriera solista, vantando collaborazioni importanti con "Patty Smith", "Stooges", "Brian Eno" ed altri ancora.

Buon 8 marzo a tutte le donne del mondo!
Oggi 8 marzo è la festa delle donne, auguri a tutte!
Vi dedico questa grande canzone di John Lennon, "Woman is the Nigger of the World " (La donna è il negro del mondo). Non fatevi trarre in inganno dal titolo, c'è molta verità in questo testo di Lennon. Vi riporto alcune frasi tradotte dal testo originale e, nonostante la canzone sia del 1972, la trovo sempre molto attuale.
