Ricordando George Harrison: Here Comes The Sun, con testo, traduzione e video

George Harrison era nato a Liverpool il 25 febbradio del 1943, fu cantante, chitarrista, polistrumentista, compositore, attore e produttore cinematografico e discografico, ma sopratutto membro dei leggandari Beatles.
George morì a Los Angeles il 29 novembre 2001, a seguito di un tumore, ma fino all' ultimo rimase legato alla musica, alla famiglia ed alla sua fede induista.
Oggi voglio ricordarlo con la stupenda Here Comes The Sun, scritta e cantata da George Harrison nell' album Abbey Road dei Beatles, del 1969.

Un anno fa scompariva Ravi Shankar

Ravi Shankar era nato a Varanasi (India) il 7 aprile 1920 ed è stato un virtuoso del Sitar, tanto da essere chiamato The Godfather of Sitar.
Fu George Harrison a portarlo alla ribalta, collaborando con lui e facendosi insegnare l' uso dello strumento musicale, diventando di fatto lo strumento portante di alcune canzoni dei Fab4 del periodo post 1967.
Shankar partecipò ai festival di Monterey (1967), Woodstock (1969), e al Concerto per il Bangladesh del 1971.
Compositore, musicista e scrittore, fu membro onorario dell'American Academy of Arts and Letters e nella sua carriera è stato premiato con due premi Grammy.
Ha avuto due figlie, la bravissima Norah Jones e Anoushka Shankar, entrambe cantanti e musiciste.
Ravi Shankar è scomparso l' 11 dicembre 2012 a San Diego all' età di 92 anni

50 anni fa usciva Please Please Me dei Beatles

Un messaggio su facebook mandato dal profilo di George Harrison mi ha ricordato questa data: 22 marzo 1963.
Una data importante per la musica, perchè usciva il primo album dei Beatles, intitolato Please Please Me, che tra l' altro fu registrato in un solo giorno l' 11 febbario 1963.
Il profilo dell' ex cantante, chitarrista e compositore ricorda che ben due brani erano cantati da George come solista e sono Chains e Do you want to know a secret.

Ricordando il grande George Harrison (The Beatles)

Il 25 febbraio George Harrison avrebbe compiuto 70 anni, infatti era nato in questa data del 1943 a Liverpool.
Chitarrista, polistrumentista, compositore, cantante, se ne andò prematuramente a seguito di un tumore il 29 novembre del 2001 a Los Angeles.
Nei Beatles scrisse 22 canzoni, poche in confronto al suo grande talento, ma il suo apporto fu notevole, in particolare inserendo genialmente richiami della cultura indiana nel rock, talvolta suonando il sitar.
Per me è stato un maestro di gusto nel suonare la chitarra, dove con note eseguite lentamente ha scritto assoli capolavoro, come nel caso di Something.
Caro George ovunque tu sia buon compleanno!

La canzone di oggi è Here comes the Sun (The Beatles)

La canzone di oggi è uno dei brani più conosciuti dei Beatles, scritta e composta da George Harrison e contenuta nell' album Abbey Road del 1969.
La storia della canzone ci riporta ad un periodo scuro per i Fab4, fatto di controversie in sala di registrazione (di lì a poco i Beatles si sarebbero sciolti), riunioni burocratiche alla Apple (la loro casa discografica) e non ultimo il fatto che Harrison fosse stato trovato in possesso di marijuana.
Secondo la leggenda, un pomeriggio George prese una pausa da tutto, ritrovandosi nel proprio giardino con Eric Clapton sotto un bel sole, cosa che lo ispirò a scrivere un testo.
Il brano è una splendida ballata in chiave folk rock, dove la chitarra acustica di Harrison fu accordata alzando di 7 semitoni e con una ritmica molto particolare, melodica e semplice da ascoltare, ma molto complessa per struttura, alternando battute in 11/8, 4/4 e 7/8.
Alla registrazione non fu presente John Lennon, il quale si trovava in ospedale a seguito di un incidente stradale, così che il Moog lo suonò lo stesso Harrison.
